California’s economy is about $4.1 trillion, making up roughly 14% of the entire U.S. GDP (around $27.7 trillion). If California loses $275 billion, it’s not just the state that suffers it directly drags down the entire U.S. economy.
Sounds like we’ve identified a gap and need sound policy to address it.
Maybe this was the reason why Trump went so hard against migrant workers. He’s been envious of California’s economy for years.
So, If you make money from exploitation, that makes it OK?

If an industry relies on a lack of labor rights and pay, then maybe these problems need to be addressed. The government supplements the farming industry and I understand why because we need food. But then the food goes to stores and restaurants and if the food doesn’t sell then the government supplements that loss. I’m confused at why this industry can only pay workers a low wage for such hard work.
What’s the average wage these workers earn?
Figure out a way to make them legal and start paying taxes.
That sounds like a Southern Democratic State from 1856. Just now they call slaves – undocumented immigrants, which in most countries are illegal, but not in US. It is actually amazing. In the past US corporations had to pay to Portuguese, British, and French ships to transport the salves, and to African tribes and Arabs to enslave the slaves. Now slaves come voluntarily and even pay to the smugglers. Capitalism evolves.
